Dallas trip

Joel and I took an impromptu trip to Dallas Texas this past weekend. We drove all the way there. It was a long haul but we enjoyed ourselves. We went down for a job interview for Joel and made it into a trip too so if we don't take the job we atleast saw the city.

Driving into Texas
Joel at the Lexus dealership. They are rated #2 in the nation

A McDonalds shaped like a happy meal. I have never seen one like this before
Our awesome hotel. We stayed at a 4 star hotel called Le Meridian. It is usually 250.00 per night but we booked it on hotwire and got it for 59.00. We had a top floor room and it was great.

We went to a place called Gator's for lunch and had some southern treats. Fried green tomatoes and alligator.

Our hilite of the trip was the Segway tour we did. For 2 1/2 hours we rode these all around downtown Dallas and saw the sights.

Joel being funny-- I think he was trying to be Ace Ventura pet detective!

We also went to Medieval Times and saw a dinner show. It was very entertaining.

Heavy Heart

I just read about Stellan and he is going to be having a heart ablation done tonight- maybe even know as I type. With him being so little it is extremely risky but I guess his chances are better doing this than not. That poor family. I cannot fathom what they must be going through. If you want to read her updates you can access her blog here: Stellan's Blog

To Grandma's house we go

This week while Joel had to go to Chicago for training, the girls and I went to my grandparents. They only live a little over an hour away and we rarely go there so we spent two nights with them.

I stopped at a friends house first and the girls had fun seeing their baby goats
and chickens
As soon as we got to my grandparents they said the easter bunny had just been there and the girls got to find goodies all over

She didn't know what to think

We went to my other grandparents who live in the same town and my grandma had birthday presents for both the girls.

Here are the girls with my Grandma and Grandpa Pearson

Behind my grandparents house they have this bridge and the girls were having fun playing on it.

Emily with Great Grandma Seger

Playing with the same wigs I used to when I was a little girl

Abby playing with my cousin's son Lucas

Emily had to bring her blue car along. This car is such a favorite in my house.

Playing at the park- here is Emily and Andrew (my cousin's other son) ready to go down the slide

Abby and Lucas climbing the rock wall

The first 4 great grandchildren for my Grandparents. A new little boy just arrived on Wed. and my brother will be having a baby in May so they will now have 6.

Grandma walking with Andrew and Abby

Great Grandma and Grandpa Seger with Emily. Abby was being difficult and I couldn't get her in the picture.

Our last stop was at my friend Sheila's. Abby had a blast playing with her little girl Sophia.

Bible Verse

1 Peter 3:9
"Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing."

We've all been there. We hear something condescending and our blood begins to boil, our defenses rise, we are ready to strike. Woe to the person who said this about us or did this to our child or treated us so unjustly. I really struggle with a feeling of fairness. I think we all ought to be treated equally- really, just treat me as good as you treat everyone else and if you treat me better that is OK too. :-)
I remember from the time I was really little my mom telling me, "life isn't fair." I always thought in my head, well it could be if you would just do this. Since growing up a lot, or at least I hope I have, my mom's words ring all too true. Life isn't fair. There are always going to be those difficult people in our lives who we have to fight to keep our holiness when we are around. There are always going to be people with bigger homes, more money, better looks etc.. It is what we do with what we have that counts. So, the next time I hear someone speak unkindly or unfairly about me or my family I am going to pray blessings on them and bring up the injustice with my Abba Father.

Easter

These are the only two pictures I got of Easter. I was in too much of a hurry getting ready myself I guess. We did an Easter Egg hunt in the morning and I didn't even get any pictures of it. I always love the Easter morning church service and was really glad we got to go.
Here is a little video to watch- about how God is mighty to save.

Thank you Lord for saving me.. for saving us... What a mighty God you are!

Outside Playing

The girls loved playing outside at my parents. What kid wouldn't?! They have so many horses and cows and a paved driveway to ride their cars on and a hammock and big trampoline and a little bridge. There is so much to do.
