Twins tickets and a dr. visit

Last night at work I won 4 front row twin tickets. They are for Sat. night May 10th. I was super excited because I never win anything. The timing of it isn't the greatest though because we are having Abby's birthday party the next day and when she went to bed I needed to decorate the house and get ready for that. Today one of the girls I work with called and she said she would pay 75.00 for the tickets plus give me 10 free tickets to the movie theatre. I took her up on it. How great to have 5 free dates. Not totally free because we will still have to pay a sitter but the movies are always so expensive and it is definetely something Joel and I enjoy. The 75.00 will be nice too. It can help pay for Abby's parties we are having. We have one on the 11th with family. There will be 15-17 people here for lunch. Then on Tuesday (her actual birthday) we will do something as a family. On Thursday the 15th we are taking 3 of her best friends and going swimming at the Community Center and then out for pizza. My friends are coming along so it will just be a mother/daughter thing. We are so excited about all of it. Every day I hear about her birthday parties and who is coming. She is such a social little girl. So anyway-- That was fun. Applebees does a lot of prizes. On Sat. night whoever sold the most fiesta items got a free dinner at the end of their shift. I was 2nd up-- I missed it by 5 pts. It really keeps the atmosphere fun though. Joel is putting in his two week notice at Sears today. I am so excited to have him home more. It is really ideal that he just works the one job. He is going to stay on the payroll and work when needed. He may have to start again in the fall when Lexus slows down again. He has had the opportunity to stay late there a lot and never can because he is rushing home for me to get to work or he has to head to Sears so this will give him a little more flexiblity there. I can also pick up an extra night a week if needed.

I had to make an unwanted trip to the dr. yesterday. It was 1 1/2 before I had to leave for work and I wasn't at all ready yet. Abby shoved a sequin up her nose and I couldn't see it but she kept complaining about it. She is quite the child. First off, a broken arm at 15 mo. and now this. I kept thinking how am I going to explain her to the dr. She is just Abby- what can I say. The dr. couldn't see it and he thinks it must have went all the way back and she swallowed it. I am supposed to watch her and if she still complains than I have to bring her to an ear, nose and throat specialist. If she starts to get a cough I have to bring her in for an x-ray to see if it
lodged in her trachea. That is a worst case scenario though and highly unlikely he said. So that is my drama from yesterday. Then I got home got ready with crying kids and my babysitter didn't show. I called her after 5 min passed and she had forgotten about it. I made it to work with one minute to spare before being late.

She just has to do everything Abby does. I can't believe she is old enough to be this way already. I just had her didn't I?!!!!

I forgot to upload these into my last blog. Sunday was so beautiful out and I bought the girls a wrapping paper tupperware and filled it with water and funnels and syringes and containers. Abby played in it for 2 1/2 hours. She loved it. She kept asking me to get her naked and I kept telling her no. She thought it was something she could sit in and I kept explaining to her that it was just for reaching in and playing with our hands. I went upstairs to change Emily's diaper and I came back down to her naked in the tupperware. It was warm out but not that warm. The water was cold too. I just used cold tap water. Silly girl.

work

Joel brought the girls into Applebees lastnight while I was working and it was so hard. Emily had her arms up wanting me to hold her every time I walked by and then would cry when I couldn't. Abby wanted me to be with them too and kept asking if she could follow me. Thank goodness it was a slow night and I was actually cut too but I still had a table there that I was taking care of. It is so hard to not be able to go to your babies. It defies all my motherly instincts. It was nice of him to come in but he just isn't going to be able to do that. They waited until I was done and then sat and ate with me. The kids didn't get to bed until 9:30 lastnight which is way too late for us. We usually have them in bed at 7, 8 at the latest. The other waitresses and my managers had fun talking with the girls. Emily is such a friendly little thing. I am so blessed to have these little girls. I love them so much.
Yesterday we rollerbladed to the park and Emily loved the rocks. She didn't want to swing or go down the slides just play in the little rock pebbles that cover the ground of the whole park.
We are going to bike to the bank in a little bit. I am going to look like an idiot because I am going to bike up to the drive-thru window to make my deposits. I don't want to get the girls out of the bike trailer to bring them in. Too much work. I am sure they will be laughing at me but I have to do what is easiest for me right?!! :-)
It looks like this weekend it is supposed to be nice during the day on Sat. hopefully we can get our garden ready, then it is going to rain in the late aft. and evening (just in time for me to go to work and hopefully be busy.) It is always a lot busier when it is raining. If I am there I want it busy so I can make some tips. Then it is going to rain all day Sunday which is a bummer as we have so much to get done. We need to hang a storm door which we have heard from neighbors is a 5-6 hour project. Joel was also going to build me some shelves- which he could maybe still do. Otherwise- We wanted to do something fun. We only get one day off together every two weeks. Isn't that pathetic!!! This Sunday is that day so we want to do something fun as a family and if it is going to be rainy maybe the zoo would be perfect. They have a huge indoor area and last year when we went it was raining so there was hardly any people there. It was perfect. I also need to get to Ikea to get a kids craft table and a few other things. I am going to leave a table set up in my kitchen and keep switching out different things to do on it. One week will be playdough- the next week will be food coloring in bottles that Abby can make creations with, the next week will be paint, then we can do different shaped noodles and glue and beads for bracelets and necklaces. ect... It will just be something else to do besides toys all the time. My friend does it and I really like the idea. Abby really likes doing things by herself so she will love it.

Busyness

Sorry I haven't posted in a long time. Life has been hectic. I have been watching Caroline a lot and having 3 kids 2 and under keeps me hopping. I call Caroline and Emily double trouble. They are into everything. They are always looking for the trouble together too. One finds something and the other is never far behind. One would think my two year old would be a good helper but she likes to get in there and cause problems between the two of them. On Thursday I just about pulled my hair out. It can get interesting around here to say the least.
I have also been working lots at Applebees. It is going well. I don't like leaving the kids but I do enjoy the job itself. It will do for awhile. Now that I am working I find my days much more full. Oh well- I am never bored.

The girls love to go biking. We try to go every evening. When I work Joel takes them and when he works I do and on the rare two nights a week we are all together as a family we all go.

This week I had tons of errands in the cities so we dropped in on my friend Kristin for both lunch and supper. It was so sweet of her. She used to be a pre-school teacher so she has really fun things to do at her house. Both my girls loved it. Abby sat at this little table with food coloring water and salt and made all kinds of things. I think I need to do a set-up like this.
I went and got the girls portraits done. I should be getting a link here soon that I will send out so you can look at all their shots. This was just one of mine in the dressing room. They looked so precious.
My friend Sheila and Sophie came for a play date this week. Emily loves the sand box. She will sit in it for hours and screams bloody murder when I take her out. She is really good about not eating the sand too.

The girls playing tag. That is Abby's new favorite game. That and hide and seek. She always tells you where she is though--- Here is an example. Abby is hiding in her bedroom closet. I come into the room and say, "hmmm. I wonder where Abby could be hiding?" Abby then says, "mom, I am in the closet." It is really pretty comical.

That is really all that is new with us. We are really loving this nicer weather and can't wait for it to get even nicer. We need to plot out and dig up the sod so we can put our garden in and I need to clean up all my perennials around the house. I am hoping for nice weather next weekend as Joel has the weekend off and I only work nights. It would be a good weekend to get our garden going.

This is a little late but I couldn't not post a note for my husband on his birthday. His birthday was Thursday April 10th but I had a baby running a 102 temp and a dr. appt. and trying to pack to get out of town so it just didn't get done.

Joel-- You are my companion, my lover, my friend. Noone knows me and loves me and accepts me like you do. I cherish your friendship and your love more than you could know. You truly are a gift that God has blessed me with. Watching you with our children makes me fall deeper and deeper in love with you. Meeting Kaden

This weekend we were able to meet our nephew Kaden for the first time. Abby loved him instantly and wanted to hold him for a long time.

Weekend pictures

We just got back from a long weekend up north. It was nice to go up and see our families. Everytime we go up it makes us wonder if we are doing the right thing by living in the cities. We miss the simple life. We celebrated our little princess Emily's 1st birthday while up there.
