Wildtree Wednesday

Today we are going to make a meal with these 3 Wildtree Products:

Please forgive the browning bananas in the background. Our Alfredo is amazing. My husband loves alfredo but only from places like Olive Garden or Applebees-- he hates store bought, but he loves this and requests this meal often.

Our Wildtree alfredo is a culinary blend powder. It has such amazing flavor. You can make it a number of ways. We do the skim milk version because I like to use less fat but you can also use half and half or whole milk for a thicker consistency. I also double my milk because the flavor is so intense that you can get by with doing that and have the product last longer. I'm all about frugality remember?.

So- to make our sauce you use:

1/4 cup dry blend

3 tbls. butter ( I use 1 1/2 tbls butter and 1 1/2 tbls chicken broth to cut the fat)

1/3 cup milk ( I double the milk to 2/3)

making it this way is supposed to serve 2 but by doubling the milk it serves our family of 4.

The big alfredo costs 17.00 and feeds a family of 4, 5 times or a family of 2 10 times. If you double the milk it will last even longer so it is just preference. I find the taste is the same so I double. It costs less than buying a jar of alfredo in the store and is so much healthier for you too and trust me... it also tastes way better.

I top mine with steamed broccoli and sometimes grilled chicken too.

Moving on... The salad

I love salads so tonight I made a fruit salad.

1 cup of organic spinach (or whatever you have on hand)

1/2 cup chunked apple (once the berries come into season I love to use rasp. and straw.)

2 TBLS crunched pecans

a handful of craisins.

2 Tbls Wildtree's Wildberry Dressing $10.00 for 12 oz. ( I know- I know- it seems like a lot for dressing but it is sooo worth it. You will get around 15 salads out of this so it is less than a buck a time. It is definitely a worth it dressing to have on hand. We love it!)

The Bread

I just used a piece of home-made bread (I'm supposed to be avoiding wheat and cheese so this is a rice bread I had made.

I then topped it with our Garlic Galore Blend $7.00 and you only use little bits at a time so it lasts a long time.

I also used a dash of freshly grated Parm cheese

Our Garlic Galore Blend is a very versatile product- you can mix with cream cheese for a great dip for chips or veggies- or you can mix with mayo for sandwiches. You can also use just a pinch of seasoning like I did for the bread- you can also add it to meatballs or pizza crusts. It is for sure for those of you, like me, who love garlic

Here is the end result-- a wonderful, great tasting, healthy meal.

I told you all last week we would discuss Grapeseed oil and the health benefits of it and I wouldn't want to disappoint so here you go:

Wildtree’s Grapeseed Oil is Expeller Pressed.

Wildtree Grapeseed Oil is NOT solvent extracted like the vast majority of Grapeseed oils in the marketplace. Expeller pressed grapeseed oil is the result of a chemical-free mechanical process that extracts oil from seeds with no external heat and produces the finest oil. This method of oil extraction is an alternative to the chemical extraction method used for many conventional oils. Sometimes expeller pressed is referred to as cold-pressed.

Expeller Pressed Grapeseed Oil is made from grape seeds after wine production. It is therefore environmentally sound and requires no new farmland or water to produce. Versatile, delicious and good for you, Grapeseed oil allows the pure flavor of fresh food to come through. Its delicate flavor and body make it perfect for sautéing, baking or frying. Try it in salad dressings, on pasta or hard breads, or use as marinades or bastes for the grill.

Health Benefits
· There are NO preservatives such as TBHQ or BHT.
· It is NOT hydrogenated.
· There is NO sodium.
· NO trans fatty acids.
· NO cholesterol (it actually aids in cholesterol reduction).
· It has one of the lowest levels of saturated fats of all oils (see chart below).
· It is easily digestible and
· A good source of Vitamin E Alpha (an important anti-oxidant)(4.3 mg per serving).
· Highest concentration of poly (76%) unsaturated acid of any oil.
· Helps the body produce High Density Lipoprotein (HDL).
· High in Linoleic acid - and its health benefits:
- is a fatty acid which acts as a transporter for saturated fats - helps prevent accumulation in the arteries.
- also known as Omega-6 and in near identical proportions to mother's milk.
- vital to life and cannot be produced by the body alone.

Miracle Frying Oil
Grapeseed Oil is ideal for frying at high temperatures. It may be heated up to 419 degrees (F) without burning, - one of the highest flashpoints. Deep-fry your favorite foods in Wildtree's Grapeseed Oil for a wonderful light crispy taste and cholesterol free frying.

As you can see grapeseed oil is truly a must have for every kitchen to cut out the vegetable oil and the canola oil-- it is even healthier than olive oil. Wildtree has the market on Grapeseed oils with all their flavor infusions they have made. They have a plain grapeseed oil which is perfect in your baking, they also have butter flavored- great on popcorn, veggies, sauting onions ect, roasted garlic, basil pesto, zesty lemon (awesome on veggies), hickory smoked (great for meats), and jalepeno.

For those of you bread dippers they have a European Garlic, European Tuscan and a Chili dipping oil. They are all phenomenal.

If you want to hear more you can leave a comment and I can e-mail you the grapeseed oil fact sheet with the comparisons to other oils and the nutrition content. You can also check out their website at http://www.wildtree.com/

Thanks for checking in-- next week tune in for an awesome, easy chip dip that doesn't contain the msg's and preservatives that the leading store brands do.
