under the new healthcare reform, you would be required to purchase a government - approved health insurance, or be forced to pay a 2.5% tax. refusal to pay this "penalty" is up to a $250,000 fine and up to 5 years in prison. pg. 297 sect. 501.
not that you'd be able to find insurance that isn't government-run, since the bill would make the sale of private insurance illegal, beginning in 2013, FORCING us to obtain the government OPTION. leaving us with NO other legal OPTION. pg. 94 sect. 202 well, thats only because this is the best option for everyone right? except for those who actually have to vote on it. members of congress are permitted, but not required, to enroll in government run health care. pg. 225 sect. 330. Page 313—Section 512 imposes an 8 percent “tax on jobs” for firms that cannot afford to purchase “bureaucrat-approved” health coverage.
Page 110—Section 222(e) requires the use of federal dollars to fund abortions through the government-run health plan—and, if the Hyde Amendment were ever not renewed, would require the plan to fund elective abortions. no one could actually read this bill and still justly support it.
Americans, have we ALL lost any hint of common sense? have we become so apathetic that we just don't care anymore? And there are those of us still that choose to be passionate about something that we won't even take the time to investigate. who that support this bill have actually taken the time to read through it? are you just blindly trusting your welfare to your politicians? it seems like we are all so small and can't do anything about it anyways. and if that statement is actually true, and we can't do anything about anything that is happening in our government, don't expect to die with any of the freedoms you were born with. that is enough for me to raise my voice. whether it is heard or not, i can't just stand by and watch this happen. we have a responsibility not only to ourselves, but to future generations.
i want my children and grand children to have the choice, nay, the freedom of any health care they plan, and not being penalized when they make a simple choice such as healthcare that the government doesn't approve of. our founding fathers wrote the constitution so that the government could never utilize this kind of authority.
in 1787, after the constitution was written, a woman approached Benjamin Franklin and asked him, "well doctor, what do we have here, a republic or a monarchy?" Benjamin franklin replied, "a republic, madame, if you can keep it." he knew that a republic requires alot of the effort from the people to keep the government from abusing its power. it takes the people to keep the republic. will we keep it? we will see.
